At Professional Interiors, Inc. we believe it is important to give back to the community we live and work in.
Our approach is two-fold. Every year we select one or two charities to which we donate services and money. We also are continually improving our environmental practices and increasing the use of ecologically safe materials to do our part in helping improve the living conditions in the community.
Charitable Donations
In 2007 we donated considerable time and money supporting Our House’s efforts to design and raise funds for a badly needed addition to their homeless child care and career counseling facilities. Professional Interiors donated over 200 hours to help jumpstart the building process. We worked with architects and sub-contractors to configure and price the entire project, consisting of a 4000 sq. ft. addition and a retrofit of the existing building.
Professional Interiors also helped Pearls for Girls, a place for abused girls to learn how to care for their children and complete their education. We helped them renovate a house so they could move the girls in, including building a wheelchair ramp. We ran a donations drive to provide needed food, toys, and supplies.
In 2008 we helped them build a playground for the children and donated a truck load of pine bark chips and again provided monetary donations. Pearls for Girls is a dynamic place for teen girls. Please donate if you can.
Each year we also help two or three senior citizens. We donate free or very low cost services and encourage our HVAC plumbing and electrical subs to help also. Recently, we built a wheel chair ramp and rebuilt an old rotting porch. We also repair loose shingles on leaking roofs, replace faucets and lights, repair or replace appliances and locks, and do maintenance like cleaning gutters. The guys get to know the people we are helping and enjoy the relationship.
Conservation and Green Building
In 2008 we entered the Inman Park parade, driving an electric car generously provided by Smart Energy Stuff to demonstrate our commitment to conservation.
We have always demonstrated our concern with conservation and health through the use of materials such as formaldehyde free insulation, laminated beams, recycling old wood as mulch, and the recommendation of Energy Star appliances.
We practice sound and energy efficient building practices like TechShield roof decking to reduce heat in attics, high rated insulation, and tankless water heaters. We recycle metals, turn trimmed tree parts into mulch for the yard, and re-use materials where possible.

In one case we transformed an old granite curb discarded by a new development project into a beautiful front step to a porch addition. In another an old standard beam became our next client’s living room mantel.
In 2008 all of our remodeling projects met or exceeded EarthCraft House standards. We are making that commitment formal by joining EarthCraft House.
In 2009 we hope to launch our first official EarthCraft House addition or entire house retrofit.
